What is Life Matters?

Life Matters is an innovative, three-and-a-half-day workshop that gives participants the tools and drive to make positive change in their lives. Whether you want to help your community, or simply further your own personal discovery, this program propels you on that journey.

People from vastly different backgrounds come together in workshops that examine identity, personal change, responsibility, accountability, trust, reconciliation, relationships, conflict resolution and forgiveness. Our facilitators use their expertise in a range of disciplines to demonstrate the Initiatives of Change philosophy: that great societal shifts begin with personal growth.

How Will Life Matters Benefit Me?

The weekend is designed to offer you a safe space to reflect on your personal journey through life and question if you have been achieving what you expect for yourself and others. The program progressively guides participants beyond their comfort zone to really get to the heart of what they want to discover about themselves. Throughout structured sessions the answers to these questions will develop into personal goals aimed at creating fundamental shifts, allowing participants to think and act beyond existing views and limits. With the assistance of recognised tools for achieving personal transformation, participants will leave with an enhanced ability to be a leader, change-maker and community builder.

What is the program structure?

The program takes place over three consecutive days and an evening session (generally Friday night, Saturday, Sunday and Monday until early afternoon). Each full day begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at approximately 10:00 p.m. Breaks are approximately every 2-3 hours, with a 90-minute dinner break. Each morning a space is provided to connect with your own inner wisdom by reflecting on a different predetermined topic. Plenary sessions are followed by smaller break out groups to provide time for personal insight and feedback. Sessions consist of personal and group activities including group feedback and idea sharing.
