For Sarah Yue, one of 40 taking part in the second Mandarin-language conference during March in Armagh, Melbourne, it was a ‘deeply enriching and meaningful experience’. Under the theme The Homecoming of Love – Seeing Life, Listening to Life, the thoughtfully-organised combination of keynote speeches and group sharing created a safe space for genuine learning and connection, she says, in which she gained ‘valuable insights into understanding life more compassionately and listening more attentively—both to others and to myself.’

Building on a similar conference last year, this was conceived and led by Ren-Jou and Grace Liu, and their daughter, Hsiao Yun Liu, with personal sharing presentations by people they have impacted through their outreach programs in different parts of China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Malaysia. In Melbourne they were joined by Australian resident Chinese who wanted to deepen their knowledge, experience and understanding of IofCA’s practical approach to ‘Life-Work – examining life’s fundamental struggle through which you can understand your deeper purpose’. With a strong focus on improving family relationships, this non-political, non-religious approach has enabled Ren-Jou and his team to support thousands of people and communities across mainland China and in countries around Asia.

From discussion at the meeting, quite strong interest was shown in the suggestion of once again bringing to Australia a group from around the region but, rather than a conference, to have an outreach to multi-cultural Melbourne and trust-building across existing divides.
