It’s International Volunteer day today (5 December 2019) and an opportunity to appreciate the work done by the large number of volunteers who are a crucial part of the Initiatives of Change Australia family.
IofC has, since its inception, been a heavily volunteer-led social movement. Volunteers don’t just ‘help’ or provide support functions. Many volunteers lead programs, provide expertise in their fields and act as mentors and guides. Some have been long-term volunteers who have dedicated their lives to the work of IofC.
This is our message to all of them who make it all work here at IofCA.
In 2018-2019, 9000+ hours of voluntary work supported IofCA’s programs and events, through a passionate network of over 150 volunteers. That’s an incredible collective effort!
We are so proud to work with a volunteer community who have chosen to cast a vote for a new story; A vote to strengthen peace and build trust in people’s lives, families and communities across the country.
“Volunteering is the ultimate exercise in democracy. You vote in elections once a year, but when you volunteer, you vote every day about the kind of community you want to live in.” – Anonymous
There are many areas you can volunteer in, depending on your skills sets and where we have a need. If you are interested, please contact our Volunteer Coordinator with an introduction about yourself, your motivation, and your area of interest. We’d love to hear from you!
