- Facilitation Training with IofCA
- Tuesday 27 February 7.30 – 9.30 pm
- We can’t change anyone else, but we can support them as they grow and heal by holding a safe space for them. This holding of safe space in groups of various sizes is the essence of facilitation – a practice that is both simple and profound because it requires a high level of self-awareness and an ability to listen deeply to self and others and to respond appropriately. This session is for anyone who wants to develop their facilitation skills to hold safe spaces for transformation.
- Facilitator: Mike Lowe
- Trauma Aware Training with IofCA
- Friday 1 March 7.30 – 9.30 pm
- This session is for facilitators and anyone working at a deep level for healing and transformation. Trauma is something that we call carry to various extents. This training session will inform us what trauma is, how it can show up in personal interactions and in groups we are facilitating, and what to do about it when that happens.
- Facilitators: Mike Lowe, Anne Holland and Judy Greenberg
- Disability Cultural Awareness Training
- Wednesday 6 March 7 – 9 pm
- As part of IofCA’s commitment to creating culturally safe spaces we have enlisted the expertise of Disability Advocate Dr Dinesh Palipana OAM to deliver an online disability cultural awareness training.
- This online training is a great opportunity for any personnel involved in delivering events, programs and workshops with IofCA to upskill their knowledge and competency in the disability sector.
- As a co-founder of Doctors with Disabilities Australia, Dr Dinesh has worked with the Australian Medical Association to create national policies for inclusivity in medical education and employment. In his research at Griffith University, Dinesh has contributed to advances in the treatment of spinal cord injury and restoring function to people with paralysis.
- ‘Disability is a social construct. I’ve never felt disabled. In fact, I feel like I achieved more after my accident than before. It’s not physical capacity that threatens to stop people – it’s people’s attitudes towards difference. That is something we can choose to change today.’ – Dr Dinesh Palipana
