Australian & Indonesian Experiences Armed conflicts are tearing our world apart right now—in Ukraine, in the Middle East, in Sudan, Myanmar, and so many other parts of the world. How can we find hope amidst this misery? At Initiatives of Change, we believe that tackling the roots of conflict and polarisation must start right where we are, at home, in our communities—and in our region of the world. So, earlier this year, we reached out to Initiatives of Change Indonesia, our nearest neighbour, asking support for a shared peacebuilding venture with colleagues in Indonesia. Peace builders at the grassroots in Indonesia are actively and successfully countering prejudice and extremism in their own communities. You are invited to a presentation and discussion on grassroots peacebuilding initiatives in Indonesia and Australia with eminent speakers and practitioners: Prof. Greg Barton, Deakin University Siti Nurwati Hodijah, National Commission on Violence against Women in Indonesia Practitioners from Indonesia and Australia with Initiatives of Change, an international network of people who seek to “be the change you want to see in the world” The discussion will be followed by afternoon tea.
